Learning About Nutrition with The Healthy Eating Song:

  • Connections

The Health tab is a great interactive activity that shows students the sections that make up a well-rounded diet and which foods are in each category.

Teacher Tip: Have your students close their eyes or turn away from the board and put the foods in the wrong categories. Then have them look at the board and see if they can pick out the mistakes and place them in the correct category. Here’s a great way to add movement to your entire class! If you have an interactive whiteboard, create a circle with all your students and let them rotate, each moving one picture of food to a location.

Want your students to fill their own plate to take home and hang on their fridge? Head to the HUB and go to PRINTABLES tab to download the My MyPlate worksheet.

  • Movement

National Nutrition Month is not just about developing healthy eating habits, but also about living an overall healthy life that includes physical activity. The Healthy Eating Song is a fun, upbeat song that is easy to dance to, and students will have a blast creating their own dance moves or following the Movement Videos!

Movement Video Tip: When learning the movements, remember to mirror the videos. You, the teacher, will use the Teacher Instruction video to learn the movements. Your students will learn the moves by mirroring you or by watching the Student Rehearsal video.

  • Create food props

Get your students’ creative, artistic juices flowing, and have them create props of their favorite healthy foods to hold while they sing The Healthy Eating Song.
