How to get students singing and moving to This Old Man:
1) Paginate through the Lyrics screens
Teach the song at your own pace and use the yellow NEXT and PREVIOUS arrows to paginate through the lyrics without music. The illustrations will even help reinforce the words!
2) Show them how to “knick-knack paddywack”
Before pressing PLAY, walk your students through the movements they will use during the chorus of the song. You can follow along with the old man on the screen to learn the chorus or create your own!
3) Create motions for each lyric
Have students create movements for each lyric. Your students will have a blast coming up with movements and acting out the old man’s tale!
4) Dance and Sing Along
Once your student have the moves down, press PLAY and follow along with the old man on the screen. If you want to keep repeating this movement activity, toggle the LOOP button to ON and the song will auto-repeat.
