Exciting Additions to Quaver’s World Music

Did you enjoy exploring our new features last week?

Over the next couple of days, we will be digging deeper into the new features released last week, uncovering the details that will help enhance your teaching!

New Feature #4: Additions to Quaver’s World Music

You asked, and we answered! We’re making our World Music songs easier to find and are building in more cross-curricular connections along the way.

Click World Music on your Teacher Dashboard to find the new menu:

  • Select INSTRUMENTS to proceed with the interactive map as you always have – exploring Percussion instruments from around the world.

  • Select the new option – SONGS – to instead be taken to an interactive map of, you guessed it, songs from every continent!

  • Select any continent to find our World Music offerings for that area of the world in one easy list.
  • Each song includes a map of the country where it originated and an easy way to LAUNCH right to that song’s ClassPlay hub (if you own the song in ClassPlay).

These World Music enhancements are just another way to highlight cross-curricular connections in your classroom. Here are a few more ideas from Quaver Trainer Valerie Diaz Leroy:

  • Jump over to TEACHER TOOLBOX to find an easy-to-access link to Google Maps. Explore the area where each song originates in more details and give students a context for how far the song has traveled to reach them.

  • Reach out to classroom teachers in your school to learn about their scope and sequence for the year. See if you can line up the songs you explore in music class with countries students are exploring in other classes. This can aid in deeper understanding of culture, customs, and music from a specific time period in that country.
