Last time here on the Tip of the Week, we showed you how to use the Draw Tool to make a regular projection screen more interactive.

Today we’re sharing another way to enhance your In-Active Board with just a wireless mouse!

Quaver Road Warrior and Customer Service Guru Bradley Minnigan is here with today’s tip:

Here at Quaver, we have developed some really awesome resources to work with some of the latest technology in your classroom.  Yet we know not all of you have an interactive whiteboard in your classroom.

However – many teachers DO have access to a projector for their room.  The problem is that the computer is away from the front of the classroom.  We have a solution!

All you need is a wireless mouse.

You can find these at any electronics store (BestBuy, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.) for around $30.  Simply follow the instructions for how to get your wireless mouse installed – many simply just have to be plugged into your computer, and you’re ready to go!

The final step is to bring a stool and mouse pad to the front of your classroom and use that to support the mouse. Voila!  You now have your controlling device, the mouse, at the front of the classroom with you, and you can control all of QuaverMusic.com from where you stand!  You can also have students come up to the front and control the mouse. What student doesn’t want to control the screen in front of the whole class!?

Just like that, you can bring fun, interaction, and simplicity to your classroom, and just maybe you can show your administration how you would utilize a real Interactive Whiteboard every day!

We’d love to hear your other classroom tech tips.

Let us know what you do to take advantage of technology in your music classes!

If you have access to an iPad there is an app called SplashTop that you can get on the iPad and on your desktop. It connects your computer and iPad so that your iPad works like a remote mouse. I use it all the time with my classes with Quaver and with Smart Notebook lessons even though I don’t have a Smart Board. I just pass the iPad around to the students.
Here’s the link for SplashTop:

Every child loves “Quavers” in our school. Very Informative, and makes each student learn music in the best of ways.

Congratulations

We love Quavers
