Teaching Quaver from a Cart

in In the Quaver Classroom!

One of our favorite questions to ask Quaver Teachers is: “How did you find out about Quaver?”

Many teachers respond that they met the Quaver team at a convention in their state, or they signed up for our free preview episode online, but one of our favorite stories is from Jean Pittman of Garden City Elementary in Savannah, Georgia.

Jean was desperate for teaching resources for her uniquely mobile teaching situation – and Quaver came through for her in a big way!

Take it away Jean!

 Teaching music from a cart

Last year my principal walked into my room the third week into our school year and changed everything for me. He said that he needed me to give up my classroom to help alleviate the school’s overcrowding.

I would be teaching music on a cart.

I had never taught from a cart in my entire career! You can imagine I had a hard time with this change. I began to pack up my room and cried the whole time! What was I going to do having to teach in a completely new way as an Orff music specialist? I was in a meltdown.

Just before the school year began, I heard good things about a music teaching tool called “Quaver” from a colleague.

I took a chance and called to have Quaver’s School Program sent to me overnight.

Sometimes all things really do work for our good. Quaver was a huge hit with my students which meant I could calm down a little bit. Soon I was able to relax and realize that everything was going to be alright, even from my cart.

In fact, Quaver’s School Program proved to be an ideal music teaching tool on a cart.

Now I have a 21st Century classroom with all the technology tools in the homerooms and, even better, I have Quaver! The students love the games and exploring the website activities. It has made my life so easy.

Now I can sleep at night knowing that I have a product that is successful with my students on a cart, and they love it!

So, I’m teaching k-5 on a cart starting in 2 weeks. I’m really searching for a solution… and Quaver seems to be it. What should I know?
