Today we bring you a special guest post from the only member of the Quaver team who actually had Quaver as a teacher – before he wore the Green Q!

Hi, I’m Laura and I’m currently interning with Quaver Music for a few months all the way from England.

Behind the Camera

Around 4 years ago, I attended a school in North East England where I met Graham Hepburn, who was my music teacher there for 3 years.  Mr. Hepburn was quite the legend at our school, starting bands, organizing huge performances such as OLIVER! and putting on music nights at cool venues. He made music exciting – putting fun twists on his lessons – even his assemblies would consist of songs he would write and perform.

It’s fair to say it would brighten up everyone’s Monday morning!

When we all heard about Graham leaving to come to America for this Quaver stuff, we were gutted to be losing him as a teacher! But we were so excited for him and his new project!

Luckily, I’ve been able to keep in contact with Mr. Hepburn, and when he heard that I wanted to study media, he invited me over to come and work with him. When seeing the episodes for the first time, I was amazed! It was almost exactly like my music lessons with him at school! (Maybe minus the talking statues and time machine phone box.)

I first visited during filming of the episodes and even got to play Penelope in one of the episodes! We wore these crazy hats and drove around a go-cart track to illustrate different tempo terms!

On the Set with Quaver

It’s great to see that his dream project has taken shape and I’m thrilled to be able to play a part in it, I’m loving every minute!

Since my internship began this summer, I’ve had all kinds of fun. Some of my duties have included:

  • Editing the new Quaver SFX machine for QuaverMusic.com
  • Helping out with  Skype calls to schools around the country
  • Helping and directing some green screen shoots

I was even a production assistant on a location shoot a couple of weeks ago and traveled with the team to Savannah to do the show at a school and an in-service day!

It’s been super fun having Laura around Quaver HQ. She’s got a great perspective on the beginning of the Quaver dream and just how far it’s come.  And the best part is – she understands Quaver’s accent!

Hi laura-so glad you are enjoying your time at Quaver and having useful experiences which we hope will aid your future career. I’m sure Graham appreciates an English(albeit Mackham) accent – Pam
